Thompson's Slippery Elm is recommended for all complaints involving mucosal surface irritations especially for individuals prone to or experiencing symptoms of acidity or those who are prone to or experiencing gut irritation or gastrointestinal disturbances.
Slippery Elm is renowned for its ability to soothe throat, stomach and digestive irritation. In people with heartburn, the mucilage appears to act as a barrier against the damaging effects of acid on the oesophagus. It may also have an anti-inflammatory effect locally in the stomach and intestines. Because it can help to normalise bowel actions, Slippery Elm is suited to conditions involving either diarrhoea or constipation.
The chewable tablets allow the mucilage of the herb to freely coat the intestinal tract.
