The hair look at the Jeremy Scott S/S 12 show was inspired by ‘Country Barbie’.

Taking inspiration from far and wide, Elly May Clampett in the Beverly Hillbillies meets Mrs Robinson in The Graduate to offer a glamorous take on the classic country girl.

“I wanted to have fun with the hair and create caricatures as an extension of the girls’ personalities,” said Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director of Wella Professionals Care & Styling.

“The collection had a ‘Wild West’ theme featuring cactus and pony-skin prints. In true Jeremy Scott style, he used lots of bright colour and brought a sense of fun and energy to the clothes."

"I wanted to do the same with the hair. We started with a very fresh and pretty, cowgirl look with pigtails in ringlets, but then created a ‘50s style ultra high glamorous bouffant wave on the top of the head. The contrast of the young pigtails against the sophisticated top section created a sense of drama and surprise” said Eugene.

Get the look: Barbie Goes Country

Start with freshly washed and conditioned hair with Wella Professionals Enrich Shampoo and Conditioner.

Prep wet hair with Wella Professionals Perfect Setting and blow dry to create a smooth texture before sectioning hair in two (top and bottom).

Curl the top section using a wide barreled hair tong, clipping each curl and leave to set.

While the top section is cooling, split the lower section into two sides and gently backcomb each section at the roots to create volume.

Fasten each section into a low pigtail, twisting the curls into defined ringlets. Spray with Wella Professionals Super Set Finishing Spray to keep the ringlets in place.

Release the top section of hair and backcomb it using a fine toothed comb, the hair should stand up on its own and provide a structure for the ‘bouffant’.

Smooth hair using a soft bristle brush before clipping to the side with a slight twist. Spray with Wella Professionals Super Set Finishing Spray to hold the style.
