Clean Those Brushes!

Most of us are pretty good when it comes to our beauty regimen. We arm ourselves with the right tools, and prep, prime and beautify ourselves on a daily basis. But there’s one important aspect we tend to forget – and that’s caring for those tools, in particular, brushes.
Good quality brushes are worth investing in as they will last longer and make your makeup application a cinch. And keeping those brushes clean will in turn make them last longer (and save you money in the long run). Plus, regular cleaning helps remove product build up and germs which can cause breakouts.
Here are some tips to help you keep your brushes in tip top shape:
Give your brushes a good clean in warm water once a week. A gentle shampoo (such as a baby shampoo) will do, or most cosmetic ranges include a brush cleaner – Clinique does a great one.
Lather and leave to soak for five minutes. Finish by rinsing your brushes under warm water to remove excess cleanser to keep brush hairs nice and soft.
Tip: While washing your brushes gently rub your brushes against a clean white plate to ensure the water is running clear and no product build up lingers.
Squeeze and excess water off and leave your brushes to dry.
Tip: Don’t dry your brushes flat against a surface. Instead, lie the brush hairs off the edge of a table to ensure one side doesn’t go flat during the drying process, leaving your brushes out of shape!
Do you clean your brushes often?
Can you recommend a good makeup brush cleaner?
