This winter, skin is officially in – and it’s becoming easier than ever to achieve a natural, tanned look, without exposure to the sun’s harmful rays. St Tropez predicts that 2011 will be all about “Hyper-Real” skin. "New beauty technologies help to deliver a tanned look that shows added depth and definition, previously impossible to achieve. Products can now be layered onto the skin to provide an airbrushed look for both pale and deep tans."

THE ETHEREAL TAN
Inspired by the glow seen at S/S 11’s shows Erdem, Zac Posen and Roksanda Ilincic, the Ethereal Tan is a perfectly polished look that delivers a hint of tan, and a dewy radiant complexion.
Hints and Tips:
• For a take on the Ethereal Tan at home, lightly apply the St. Tropez Wash Off Mousse with an Applicator Mitt all over the body to even out the skin tone and the body contours. For a longer lasting colour, try St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse, which gives a luminous glow and boosts radiance.
• Using a skin illuminator, place a small amount on the back of the hand and then lightly apply with the fingertips to the cheekbones, décolleté, cleavage and shins to create a 3D effect and sculpt the curves of the body.
• To finish, lightly buff the skin with a Buffing Mitt to achieve polished perfect skin.
THE DUSKY 70’S TAN
A new take on the dark tan, as seen on Henry Holland’s 70s inspired S/S ’11 runway, is a dusky matte skin finish inspired by iconic films such as blue lagoon with Brooke Shields and eponymous Xanadu mixes with 1970’s glamour hotspots: Beverley Hills and Miami.
Hints and Tips:
• Evenly apply St Tropez Wash Off Body lotion with an applicator mitt all over the body to achieve an immediate dark, but sheer colour
• Form more depth, layer the St Tropez Wash Off Body Lotion to give stronger colour with a dusky illusion.
• Finish the 70’s Tan with an application of your preferred matte powder bronzer all over the key areas of the body such as the décolleté, collar bone, shins and arms to ‘powder’ the skin and give that dusky look.
THE FUTURISTIC MOD TAN
An ultra modern dark tan with a shimmer finish, the Futuristic Tan exaggerates the body contours and flatters curves through definition and depth.
Hints and Tips:
• To achieve an immediate dark wash of colour, apply two layers of the ST Tropez Bronzing Lotion over the whole body. This delivers instant deep bronze colour that is still sheer and modern.
• To up the ante and complete the look, finish the skin with a shimmer. Glide your preferred shimmering product over the shoulders, shins and collarbone to help create the appearance of a more defined chest and bust and longer legs.
