We have seen many nail polish trends come and go this past year. First there was the dark and moody moment (it was all black on black on black), the disco phase (with neon nails taking centre stage), and, most recently, the unorthodox hue (jade green) was all the rage. But the colour that's taking manicures by storm right now is taupe!
While it's not as immediately eye-catching as some other shades, this putty-ish hue is instantly intriguing and it works amazingly well with paler winter skin.
This trend started where most nail polish trends do, on the Chanel runway, surprised? I think not. It debuted at their S/S 10 show thanks to
Global Creative Director for Chanel Makeup Peter Philips.
The colour was also spotted at the Golden Globes care of Sandra Bullock, but she isn't the only star loving it. Kate Beckinsale, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Lily Allen have all been seen getting their taupe on.
Taupe’s we love:

Right off the runway, this shade is clearly setting the stylish tone for fingers. Plus it’s the perfect counterpart to their entire new makeup collection that highlights a neutral, bronzed face with delicate brown shadows and a pinky-gold lip.
O.P.I Over The Taupe
Over The Taupe is part of the O.P.I Bright Pair Collection and is a mushroom-esque hue thats right on trend. I have had mine on for the past week and still not a chip in sight - love it!
ORLY Prince Charming
Prince Charming is a gorgeous brown-taupe crème that is glossy when applied. Effortlessly stylish for a look so chic, Karl Lagerfield himself would be envious.
