Prim And Proper? I Think Not!

So undone-sexy. So rough and ready. Yes, BB is loving this loose, side version of the prim and proper plait.

Here is how to get the look at home:

1. Build up the bouff
Despite the rough, DIY feel of this look, a little pre-plait prep is key: Start with damp hair and apply a root-lifting product and some thickening spray from the mid-lengths to the ends. Roughly blowdry and get your fingers working in all directions, lifting the hair to help create volume. Once dry, lightly backcomb at the roots and spray in a little flexible-hold hair spray.

Tip:
No time to wash and blow? Just blast dry hair with dry shampoo and rub, rub, rub. We love the Fudge Dry Shampoo, smells good enough to eat.

2. The comb-over
Parting your hair to one side tends to be flattering for most faces, much more so than the centre part. It gives softness to the face and allows you to create more volume on top of the head. Then bring your hair forward over one shoulder, on the opposite side to your parting. Sweep the front section across the forehead and into the eye line.

3. Plait and go
What makes this braid work – and especially Wang-like – is the side part and wearing the braid slung over one shoulder. The braid itself is as simple as it gets: Keep it low, fairly loose and relaxed. If it’s still looking too ‘done’, then loosen it a little with your fingers. Fasten with a clear or hair-coloured band.
