Ask anyone for the picture-perfect male body and it's likely that vision of chiseled arms and washboard abs comes to mind. Rarely do such images include a shiny coat of back or chest hair. Grooming below the neck is increasingly important to guys all around the world. In fact, more and more woman these days don’t like any hair apart from that sexy 5 o’clock shadow.

Not only do women like it, but manscaping your body also has hygienic benefits, makes you feel smoother and gives you that bit of extra summer coolness. Hey, if we can do it, so can you!

Armpits: Bushy underarms often mean more sweat, so why not let your armpits breathe a bit?

Chest: Reduce heat, get a full tan or accentuate your muscles by removing your chest hair - it always looked good on the incredible Hulk so why not give it a try?

Legs: Professional cyclists have long been shaving their leg hair, so why not get a bit of an advantage yourself by showing off your clean-shaven legs?

Down under: Lavishing a bit of care down under has many benefits: you will feel cleaner and more inviting - and don't forget that grooming may cause certain body parts to look bigger!

How to:

When grooming, the same rule applies: Always work against the direction of hair growth and tense the skin with your other hand while doing so. That lets the appliance glide more smoothly over the skin, giving you a smoother shave and less skin irritation. If you groom under the shower, use a shaving gel or foam and make sure that the cutter head of your shaver is wet. You should also exert less pressure on your skin when shaving wet. If you find you don't feel better after grooming, but more like a plucked chicken, just stay calm, your hair will return!

Trimming of armpits:
1. First moisturise armpit, remove traces of deodorant
2. Apply shaving cream
3. Shave with upward strokes
4. Flush armpits with cold water
5. Don't rub armpits, pat them dry with soft towel
6. Don't apply products containing alcohol

Trimming of chest hair:
1. Wash skin with warm water
2. Apply shaving cream
3. Don't stroke an area more than twice, this will help reduce skin irritation
4. When finished, clean chest with soap and water
5. Exfoliate chest to help avoid ingrown hairs

Grooming of legs:
1. Wet legs with warm water
2. Apply shaving cream
3. Start shaving at front and slowly work around
4. Pat legs dry with towel
5. Apply lotion to help avoid razor burn

Trimming down under:
1. Take a shower
2. Apply shaving cream
3. First shave "with the grain", then against it
4. In very sensitive areas make sure the skin is stretched to help avoid injuries
5. Rinse, dry and moisturise your skin
6. Apply talcum powder to help keep area itch-free
