I'm pretty sure that only supermodels and that girl who works at the Karen Walker store have naturally high cheek bones – but the rest of us can fake them excellently...
Tools:
As I have always preached, getting a great brush set is a good idea - good brushes are the difference between doing am acceptable job on your makeup, and doing a fabulous one. You don't have to spend your dinner money either - good brush sets can be purchased from some Asian stores, $2 shops, chemists, on Trademe, and through other websites too.
A medium sized blush brush or contouring brush is ideal, as well as a smaller, thinner one for applying highlighter - but if you own just the one brush then you can use it for highlighting by squeezing the bristles together to flatten them out into a thin line.
Product:
Primer if you have it (naughty girl if you don't), bronzer, a pink or peach based blush, and a highlighter (note: shimmery eyeshadows or lipglosses can be substituted for highlighter)
Step one:
Start by using a good moisturiser as this will create a great base for your makeup to sit on, or even better, use a primer as it will help your makeup stay on longer (after all, naturally high cheek bones don’t just slide off your face during the day do they?)
Step two:
After you have applied your foundation base, grab a contouring brush, or a reasonably small blush brush. Suck your cheeks in (like you are making a fish face) and lightly brush bronzer into the middle of the hollow of your cheek, bringing it back towards the hairline.
Step three:
Relax your face and lightly brush a pink or peach based blush over the apples of your cheeks (These are the bits that stick out when you smile).
Step four:
Using a soft makeup brush, lightly blend the products together to create a more natural look – you don’t want to be able to see distinct lines where the product is sitting.
Step five:
Grab a smaller brush (for accuracy) and dust highlighter over the very tops of your cheek bones to emphasize them. If you feel your face you can make out where your eye socket is – bring the highlighter upwards your temples from the bottom part of the eye socket.
