Well not anymore, here's all the tips you need to know for liner success...• Go beyond basic black. Rich, chocolate brown or dark plum eyeliner can sometimes be a better choice; they both have the depth without the potential harshness. I like Smashbox Limitless Eye Liner Pencil in Black Violet RRP$40.
• Keep it solid. Liquid liner is very difficult to apply as it dries as soon as you put it on. Skip the liquid and try a more forgiving gel formula that will give you the bold look. This look is great for evening, when you can really pull off an exaggerated, winged-out line.
•Don't overdo it. The biggest mistake you can make is to rim your eyes completely.
Eyeliner is meant to add definition and make your eyes look larger, but circling them completely will make them look small and beady. Lining the inner rims of your eye can also have that effect. Just try to get the liner as close to your lashes as possible. You don't want to have any skin showing between the liner and your eyelashes.
• Don't cry over smudged liner. If you make a mistake, dip a cotton swab into a little makeup remover and quickly straighten out the line. Works like a charm.
• Keep it simple. To avoid looking trashy, keep the rest of your look simple - think glowing skin, sheer gloss, clean nails, and loose, flowing hair.
