At this time of year with the cold temperatures and regular rain downpours the only time we expose our feet is in the shower…..So why bother taking care of them? Well before you know it the sun will be out again and so will the pretty summer sandals so keeping your feet fabulous is a must! Start preparing now with these 6 simple steps to your perfect at home pedicure;
1.Firstly remove old nail polish with a cotton pad soaked in nail polish remover.
2.Then fill a basin with warm water and add to it some body oil or softening body wash. Place your feet in the basin and sit back and relax for about ten minutes .
3.Remove your feet from the basin and place on a towel, then use a foot file (metal ones are more effective) to remove the dead skin being careful not to rub too hard. This process is best carried out when feet have been soaked as it softens the hard skin making it easier to remove.
4.Then using nail clippers specifically for toe nails trim each nail straight across, file gently if necessary to ensure there are no rough edges. This again is better done when the nail has softened in water.
5.Dry thoroughly and smother your feet with either a foot cream or just your usual body butter and if you like, apply cuticle oil around the nail to soften the hard skin that can sometimes form. Then put on a pair of socks which will keep the feet warm and the moisture locked in and leave for as long as possible, I recommend over night and you will wake up with beautifully soft feet!
6.Lastly once you have removed the socks take a clear base coat and coat each nail once. Then pick you favourite nail colour and apply two coats and if you have time apply a clear top coat for extra shine! Use a cotton bud dipped in nail polish remover to remove any excess nail polish from the toes.
Try and do this once a week and by the time summer is here you will be ready to show them off in a new pair of this seasons sandals!
