No longer a disco cliché, glitter is making its way back into every ‘it girls’ makeup bag. At the fall 2009 shows, touches of glitter lit the runways—from a subtle sheen on the lash line at Louis Vuitton to metallic eyes at Prada. To make it 2010-ready, Chanel makeup artist Fulvia Farolfi says to “isolate it to one feature - lids, lash line, lips, or cheekbones.”
Go wild: If you want to go wild with this trend there are some awesome beauty products that you should try out. MAC's glitter pots are a personal fave as they come in a bunch of fun colours. Another great item to try is glitter mascara but this look should be reserved for evening only and be careful not to rub your eyes too much.
Go subtle: If the thought of glitter has you running scared you can go easy with the trend and try a shimmery eye shadow or apply a little glitter lotion to your legs or chest. NARS body glow smells great and will give you the glitter affect without going overboard.
And neat freaks never fear, you can avoidleaving behind a glitter trail with the help of some Vaseline under loose sparkles or opt for glitter-infused lip glosses and eyeliners. “Before you go out, use a Band-Aid, which is very gentle on the skin, to clean up any bits that may have wandered off to your cheeks or nose,” says Dany Sanz, creator and artistic director of French brand Make Up For Ever, which started selling glitter in plastic bags back in 1984. “When you come home, use the adhesive again to pick up as much as you can, followed with a creamy cleanser.” Should a stray still turn up in the light of day, just consider it a party favour.
