Makeup artist Neisha Henry blogs from a shoot at Smashbox Studios in L.A...
From the outside Smashbox studios looks like a big white concrete building with no signage (many A list celebrities and Hollywood stars frequent the studios for photoshoots so security is full on!)
I finally made it in and was chauffeured to the studio we will be working in. As I am walking through I get mistakenly taken into another studio room - where Mary J Blige is being made up…yes I know… OMG!!! I play it cool and casually say a hi and pass through - can you believe it?
By this time I’m totally in my element! To ease my performance anxiety from what has just happened I hang with Daniel while he briefs me on the shoot. We will be recreating Oscar looks on two models who resemble Angelina Jolie and Amy Adams for the Irish TV program “EXPOSE” – equivalent to the “E” channel here.
Below: Daniel with the models and the host of Expose

The models are sitting having their hair done and the clothing stylist (ex stylist for Naomi Campbell) is perched up on a table relaxing while the TV crew adjust lights etc.

Daniel and I are preparing for our looks. One is a recreation of Angelina Jolie’s Oscar look and the other being of Amy Adams. Both models are drop dead gorgeous and have perfect canvases to recreate these looks.
Off I go preparing both the models skin – not that it was hard as they both have amazing skin - I didn’t even put foundation on either of them!

The Camera man starts counting 10, 9, 8 ACTION! He starts filming Daniel applying the eye makeup to the goddess’s while the host from Expose takes the audience step-by-step through how this is done.

The total shoot takes about 30min and the models looks are stunning - go Smashbox Pro artists!

TIP: If you ever want the perfect red lippy but cannot seem to get the right shade try Smashbox Photo Finish Lipstick in Legendary - it’s a great colour on lots of different skin tones
Afterwards, we all go back stage and enjoy light appetizers and iced tea with Dean Factor (Great grandson of Max Factor and co-founder of Smashbox cosmetics). Now this is what I call an afternoon of work!
