Shiseido Pure Retinol Instant Treatment Eye Mask:
I am always one for taking 15 minutes out when ever I can for a little ‘me’ time. These eye masks help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and improve dark circles with one use – love it! Plus if you put them in the fridge for about ten minutes before use the cooling sensation make the experience that much more relaxing! RRP: $90

Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream:
This luxury super-cream has had a massive waiting list when it was released in the UK and we think it lives up to the hype. Targetting the three hardest to treat areas; the eye, jaw line and neck, it’s designed to visibly firm the skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while also helping to restoring elasticity and suppleness. RRP: $49.99

Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil:
This September as part of Trilogy’s commitment to animal welfare, they are launching an ongoing campaign to support endangered Orangutans in South East Asia. To kick off the campaign they will be donating $1.00 from every sale of their Certified Organic Rosehip Oil to the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation. Their Rosehip Oil is one of our favourite products of all time. It helps improve skin moisture by up to 44%, helps decrease the visible signs of aging and improves skin softness by up to 21%. So why not do your skin and the Orangutans some good this month? RRP: $22.90

Kevin Murphy:
Not new to the market, but recently reformulated to be paraben and sulphate free, we thought the delicious Kevin Murphy range deserved a mention. The products contain essential oils that are naturally superior to man-made substances – and they smell BREATHTAKINGLY good. Love the product names: Angel Wash, Body Guard, Born Again… Prices vary per product. Available from selected salons.

Revitalift SPF18:
Do you have mature skin that is also sensitive? Containing the anti-wrinkle agent Pro-Retinol and Elastin to firm the skin, this is a potent remedy for ageing skin, yet gentle and light enough to comfort sensitive skin. Better still you can prevent further sun damage with the addition of SPF18. My beautiful mummy has very sensitive skin (it even reacts to water!) and she finds this cream a joy to use. Thumbs up! Holistic Hair Dry Damaged Hair shampoo and the Dry Damaged Hair conditioner

This product was reviewed by Beauty Bible's resident natural product tester - she has skin sensitivities so does not like to use anything that contains chemicals.

I recently tried the Holistic Hair Dry Damaged Hair shampoo and the Dry Damaged Hair conditioner for three consecutive days.

Because I have skin sensitivities I am very particular about using natural products. Having checked out the ingredients lists I was happy to go ahead and experiment with these products.

The shampoo, which smells beautiful (thanks to the geranium and lavender essential oils), lathered up very well and left my hair feeling nourished, cleansed and shiny. The conditioner worked swiftly to deal with my hair’s fly away ends. RRP: $25.00 each

Impulse Body Sprays

Impulse has re-launched with a gorgeous new look and a brand new scent.

On several occasions since the new Impulse Romantic Spark Body Spray arrived in the Beauty Bible offices, people have mistaken the scent for one of my many designer perfumes - and so it should given it was inspired by Marc Jacobs Daisy.

Created by Ann Gottilieb who was behind Calvin Klein Obsession, the Romantic Spark body spray is incredibly pretty and fresh - the fragrance is gorgeous and Impulse body sprays are now officially a hangbag must have - they really are THAT good.

And the price? RRP:$5.49 - seriously? Some lattes cost more than that these days. Get it from your supermarket ASAP

Big news in skincare

Lancôme's GENEFIQUE Youth Activator

Lancôme is to release a ground-breaking Youth Activator called GENEFIQUE to New Zealand on July 20 - stand by beauties!
|
Lancôme's GENEFIQUE Youth Activator is formulated to revive gene activity in aging skin and stimulate the production of newly identified 'youth proteins', significantly increasing luminosity, smoothness, suppleness, and tone.

Yes, it's pricey at $190.00 - but this is absolute ground-breaking technology and you only need to apply 2-3 drops morning and night -  so it will last the distance. I especially like the dropper application device - makes me feel a bit like a scientist!

Speaking of scientists, GENEFIQUE is the fruit of a 10 year research programme that the Lancôme laboratories conducted.  It was formulated based on two major discoveries:  gene activity slows with aging; and young skin carries two proteins that aging skin does not.

Lancôme tested the formulation on a wide sample of  women of all ages over two months in scientifically controlled conditions, and were able to conclude that regular use of GENEFIQUE stimulates the activity of the genes promoting the production of these proteins, by more than 60%, with visible rejuvenation in just seven days.

Eight Hour Cream just got better

Unchanged since it's birth in 1930, Eight Hour Cream is a worldwide beauty icon -  the ultimate, multi-purpose beauty tool. Now, for the very first time, two new products have been added to the Eight Hour Cream range. On counter May 18

Eight Hour Cream Intensive Daily Moisturiser for Face SPF 15 +
has the classic aroma of the traditional Eight Hour Cream, and works to protect skin from the effects of extreme weather, whist keeping your skin hydrated for up to 8 hours. It absorbs quickly and I reckon this is a great one for the ski season and the cold winter months!RRP: $55.00

Eight Hour Cream Sun Defense for Face SPF 50+ is light weight and oil-free and formulated to safeguard skin from the suns rays. It has been endorsed by The Skin Cancer Foundation Seal of Recommendation Program so you know it is good - plus it is PABA-free and suitable for sensitive skin. Sun damage causes cell-damage and premature ageing, as well as sun spots and cancer risks so it is important to find a good sun-care product that works well for you - this little gem from Lizzie Arden could very well be it. RRP: $38.00 - yes, you're right, that is a HUGE bargain!

Fragrance

Fragrance makes the world go round -  here are three, hot new fragrances to scent your world with:

For work: Sheer Stella by Stella McCartney

This fragrance is a limited edition and goes on counter mid May. Summery, fruity and very pretty, this is the perfect fragrance to apply throughout the day when you need a mood lift or a pick me up. The bottle is gorgeous and I am always a sucker for any fragrance that contains notes of rose. A little designer injection in to your life without a five figure price tag - this would make a fabulous gift  RRP$109.00

For day play: Chloé eau de toilette

A sparkling, powdery, rose petal scent in a stunning bottle. RRP:$88.00 or $165.00

For night: Yves Saint Laurent Elle Shocking

A feminine scent with notes of freesia jasmine and raspberry mixed with soft musk and cedar. The Beauty Bible team gets so many comments when we wear this fragrance. It's girly, but a little naughty too which makes it perfect for evenings. We love the bottle as it is very handbag friendly so you can take it with you whever you go. A total must-have,

Foundation

Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Hydrating Makeup Fluid

This product has been on counter since the end of January, but my skin has only just become pale enough to test it. The 'nude trend'  has been coming through on the catwalks for a while now in both clothing and makeup. It's a look that is sophisticated, sheer and there is a real focus on paired back, natural beauty.

Diorskin Nude Foundation contains 40% water, as well as precious vitamins and minerals to really take care of your skin. The press release suggested keeping the product in the fridge for a real feeling of freshness upon application - a trick I have not tried before, but thoroughly enjoyed. The foundation is less about camouflaging and more about being made-up, without being covered up - and I like that concept! It lasted all day, a little went a long way and I received several comments about how great my skin looked. RRP: $89.00

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation

Bobbi Brown named her latest foundation Skin Foundation - because it creates such a natural finish. A natural looking base, that looks like your own skin, but better is a huge trend in makeup right now. Skin Foundation is lightweight, hydrating and lasts all day - plus it contains an SPF15 which is great for naughty girls who forget to put their sunscreen on. RRP: $92.00

Hissy Fit Nude

Hissyfit does a roaring trade in high protection foundations - and because I am trying to take a break from fake tan this winter I am excited about their latest shade, 'Nude' which is designed especially for paler winter complexions. Hissyfit products create fab luminosity and contain SPF 30+ (RRP: $69.00)

Hair

Naturaly focused: L'Oreal Serié Nature

L'Oreal has launched a new range of naturally focused haircare - Serié Nature. Although it is not an organic range, or classified as 100% natural, it is based upon natural ingredients and backed up by the best beauty science the world has to offer.

This is a very high performance product range and from first hand experience I know it gets results (and smells delicious). Great products are the key to great hair and there are four ranges available : Richesse for dry hair, Re-Naitre for sensitised hair, Oiliss for unmanageable hair and Tendresse for children. The products go a long way so you can really justify paying salon-product prices (RRP:$33.00 -$38.00). My hair has not been this great in a long time and let me tell you, it is because the product is so great, NOT because I visit the salon regularly.

For pumpin' up the volume: Redken

Sleek, head-hugging hair is out - and full, bouncy hair is here to stay for awhile, so you may need to introduce a couple of new products to your routine.

Right now drop curls and waves are what hair is all about - so Redken has come to the party with two new products that will help make getting this look easy.

Redken Layer Lift 07 spray gel ( $34.00) is a real little ripper - not only does it help to control frizzies, but it adds volume to the ENDS of your hair. This is great, there is nothing worse than creating great body in the roots and then having it fade off down to limp, fine ends that just hang there looking dull! Fab for curls, waves, and just general, all-round great hair.

Redken Rootful 06 (RRP$32.00) boosts the hair at the roots - creating lift where you need it without spending hours in front of the mirror. Just spray it on to damp hair and blow dry ( using this easy, salon-style-blow dry guide). I love it because it has a targetable nozzle - so it goes on the area that you want it to go, and it makes my hair massive ( in a good way)

Shine button on, frizz button off: Andrew Collinge

A major part of getting 'just-stepped-out-of-the-salon hair" is the finishing products you use. At the moment I am crazy about the Andrew Collinge Protect and Shine Glossing Spray (RRP:$14.99). It helps calm frizz, fly-aways (awesome) and tame frayed ends (perfect when you are trying to make your cut last a little longer) and makes your hair look sleek, shiny, and new. The best bit is that is great for using between washes to revive your style - oh and the super-cheap price tag.

Hair repair: SP Enrich

Our hair takes a beating over summer - so now is a great time to get it back into shape. The Enrich range by System Professional is designed to help restore your hair to smooth, silky perfection - it even contains cashmere extract! There are three products in the range- Enrich Shampoo (RRP:$31.00), Enrich Balm ( RRP:$31.00) - a leave-in product that you use instead of conditioner, and Enrich Mask (RRP:$33.00) - a magical treatment used once a week to restore your hair to it's former glory.
