NZFW 2011: Ruby and Liam

Ruby and Liam’s off-site breakfast show was full of very well dressed, impeccably groomed Ruby fans; lots of bright red and fuchsia lip colours were spotted in the crowd.

LIAM

Natural, luminous skin was the focus of the makeup at Liam, with a gorgeous pearly shimmer placed on the cheekbones and around the forehead to highlight the face.

The skin looked glowing and very fresh. Natural, pale peachy tones accentuated the eyes, with a touch of black mascara to define, and lips were a gorgeous glossy nude shade.

These warm peachy tones complimented the bright oranges seen in the collection.

Again we saw a 1960’s reference in the hair, with a big bouffant style. Hair was full of volume, and left out with delicate curls placed on the very ends. Fringes were swept to the side, and the finish was soft and slightly mussed-up, a modern take on the smooth voluminous styles of the 60’s.

RUBY

Ruby’s models offered a contrast to the natural look at Liam, with bold, very thick, winged-out eyeliner. The edges of the liner ended in a rectangular shape, a geometric look echoed in one of the key prints seen in the show. A hint of sparkle was pressed over the liner, a teal glittery shade that caught the light beautifully, and the eye was finished with a heavy black lash.

We also saw the same refined, glowing skin seen at many of the other shows, with a pale highlight over the cheeks. Lips were painted a delicious mauve pink colour.

A soft hairstyle complimented such a striking makeup look. Low ponytails (also seen at Juliette Hogan) were flipped back through the hair tie, giving a relaxed, twisted look at the nape of the neck. The top of the hair was slightly dishevelled, with a soft texture. A bold centre part with hair pulled back softly over the ears kept the focus on the face and the strong makeup.
