Blak Luxe showcased a dark fairy-tale look; models sported gorgeous mussed up, long frizzy hair. A light wave (almost a large crimp) was worked through the hair, which was then brushed through to soften the look.  

Crimping and waves are two huge hair trends spotted at NZFW this year. A sleek side parting provided a nice contrast to the wild lengths, and was finished in a cute knot at the side of the head.

Some of the models sported rustic headdresses created from twigs, almost like tiaras, and some of the beautiful crimped hair at the back was looped over the ends. The end result was very whimsical and earthy.

Makeup was warm and earthy also, with natural peach and brown tones used to accentuate the eyes and lips. A dramatic, winged-out smoky eye was the key feature of this look, using deep browns and neutral colours.  Brows were left natural and undefined, and the cheeks were flushed with a very subtle peach shade.  Lips were a gorgeous, soft coral colour, almost a lip stain. Skin was flawless and refined, with a subtle cheek contour and highlight on top of the cheekbone.

Hair – Get the look

Headed by Joico Hair Director, Luana Coscia

Start with wet/dampened hair.

Apply layers of Joico K Pak Design Foam and Joico Design Collection Texture Spray for volume and texture.

Blast dry hair to create volume, whilst scrunching a few sections for texture.

Put hair in a deep side parting, and then take each front section from crown to ear, pulling hair from that section loosely into a messy knot. Secure with pins.

Smooth back the hair on the opposite side to the knot under parting to sit behind the ear, then secure with fringe pins if necessary.

Finish with Joico Design Collection Flexible Shaping Spray and Joico Design Collection Humidity Blocker to kill frizz and hold the style with flexibility.
