Stephanie Coulter is a trained makeup artist, beauty product junkie, and one of our newest writers for Beauty Bible!  Stephanie’s knowledge of all things makeup and her experience in the beauty industry means she’s the perfect girl to share her knowledge with our readers.  I sat down with Steph to find out a little more about her...

Tell us a little about yourself...
I’m a trained make-up artist, and I’m very passionate about beauty. Working in the cosmetics industry for ten years has left me absolutely obsessed with make-up and products. I’ve always been a real girly girl and love to apply make-up, and more recently write about it! It’s lovely to share some of the tips and tricks I have picked up over the years.

Describe your beauty routine...
Day to day I like to keep my make-up natural and fresh. I always wear sunscreen, followed by a light layer of foundation. I love using a peachy/pink blush to wake up my complexion, a couple of coats of black mascara, and a neutral lip with a dab of gloss. I always groom my brows and fill them in with powder. If I’m going out I either do a dramatic smoky eye or a liquid liner and a bright lip. I always take my make-up off before bed (with Neutrogena make-up wipes), then I cleanse with a creamy cleanser and apply a glycolic acid based moisturiser. Trilogy Rosehip oil is great before bed for an extra moisture hit. I love gradual tanner for my body so I apply a coat each night, and exfoliate once a week.

What is the one beauty product you can’t live without?
I love lip balm and gloss – I seem to always have at least four lip products in my handbag. At the moment I’m using Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream. I love it because it gives a beautiful sheen, and is multi-purpose. I also really like Trilogy’s Everything Balm.

What has been your biggest beauty blunder?
Too much spray tanning. And frosted pink lip gloss.

What has been the most daring beauty transformation you have undergone?
Going from brunette to blonde was pretty fun. I have had very dark brown hair my whole life, so it was quite a change.

Lipstick or lipgloss?
As I’m getting older I’m enjoying lipstick more and more. Usually I use both products together, but if I had to choose I would have to pick gloss.

What is your favourite thing about working in the beauty industry?
As a make-up artist it is very rewarding making women feel good about themselves. I also love the creative aspect. Ultimately though, I feel lucky to be working in a industry that I’m so passionate about – I love it.

What does beauty mean to you?
Confidence is beauty. Beauty to me is something innate that can be enhanced with the right products and a little effort. I think every woman should feel beautiful, and be encouraged to love and care for themselves.
