Elite International was started in 1998 in William Pickering Drive, Albany, Auckland. In August 2003 Elite International moved into larger premises in Mairangi Bay to encompass both Beauty Therapy and the fast growing Spa Therapy Training in one facility. In January 2007 Elite’s Mairangi Bay campus relocated again to a larger purpose built training facility at 40C Triton Drive.

The Joyce Blok Institute merged with Elite International in November 2004. The Joyce Blok Institute has had a long and successful history, starting in 1975 by a Dutch Beauty Therapy professional named Joyce Blok who was New Zealand’s first beauty professional. The school’s dedication to high professional standards has built a distinguished reputation with students, employers and the New Zealand beauty therapy industry as a whole.

In March 2005 Elite International opened a campus in Hamilton. In the past many students have had to travel to Auckland to obtain international qualifications demanded by employers. A campus in Hamilton means that students have access to opportunities and career prospects in the beauty therapy industry without leaving the Waikato. In July 2007 the Hamilton campus relocated to new premises which raises the standard of training Elite International will be able to offer in the Waikato. The Hamilton Campus was expanded at the end of 2005 to enable Spa Therapies courses to be offered. In July 2007 the campus moved to completely remodelled premises on Bryce Street This has enabled all facilities including Spa to be located on one floor.

In July 2007 Elite International acquired the Beauty Therapy College of New Zealand. The Beauty Therapy College of New Zealand was started by Joyce Blok in 1973 and is New Zealand’s longest established Beauty Therapy Training provider. Joyce Blok sold the Beauty Therapy College and went on to start the Joyce Blok Institute in 1975. It is interesting to note that these two institutions founded by the same person have served the industry for over 30 years independently are now part of the same group.

In December 2008 Elite acquired the Wellington School of Beauty Therapy. This brings the total number of campuses where Elite offers Premier Beauty Therapy training to five. The Wellington School of Beauty Therapy was opened in 1999 and is the only private provider of beauty therapy training in Wellington.

Elite now has 5 campuses in Auckland and Hamilton and Wellington.

Elite is now New Zealand’s premier provider of Beauty Therapy Training offering more course selection at more locations that any other provider . Beautician
Health and hygiene, cleansing, analysis, massage, masks, electrical machines, make-up, eye lash and brow treatments, manicures, pedicures and waxing, professional practice and conduct, skin diseases and disorders, business studies, chemistry and physics.

Body Therapy
Exercise, figure analysis, electrical treatments for slimming and weight loss, all systems of the body, Swedish massage and nutrition.

Epilation
Full electrolysis hair removal treatment.

Spa therapy
Aromatherapy, reflexology, hot stone massage, Indian head massage, Thermo Auricular Therapy, organic works, stress management, Vichy massage, balneotherapy, full body wraps and scrubs, spa facials, spa manicures and pedicures.
