To celebrate the launch of the latest products from Maybelline New York, the beauty brand has chosen New Zealand’s all-girl band Ivy Lies to rock the summer’s hottest looks as the ‘Eyes of Maybelline New York’ for their upcoming touring schedule.
Ivy Lies lead singer Emla says the band has had a massive year, completing the recording of their debut album in Los Angeles (to be released early March 2011), knocking out three music videos and confirming their upcoming tour schedule with chart topper Dane Rumble.
“We are so excited to get the tour with Dane underway and by hooking up with Maybelline New York we can make sure we always look rockin’ on stage!” says Emla.
Originally from Christchurch, the band was formed by Lisa, Emla and Rosie under the name 'Starlett' while the girls were still at school. The band soon caught the attention of SonyBMG, who signed them to a development deal when they were just 17 years old.
The band moved to Auckland in 2008 to hit the live circuit and integrate themselves into the local music scene. They now have a distribution agreement with Warner Music via their label, Let The People Speak.
Katherine Jensen, Marketing Manager of Maybelline New York says Ivy Lies are the perfect fit for the brand. “The Ivy Lies girls have that perfect mix of edgy cool, mixed with an addictive sound. They represent everything that is great about Maybelline New York and the strong synergy the brand has with fashion and music.”
Ivy Lies begin the ‘Schools out for Summer’ tour with Dane Rumble on December 10, 2010.
