Boost For Ovarian Cancer Research

Ovarian cancer research in New Zealand gets a boost with the announcement that L’Oréal Paris has formed an alignment with the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
L’Oréal’s support will help fund New Zealand-based research to assist with developing an effective screening programme to detect ovarian cancer at an early and treatable stage.
Ovarian cancer has a high mortality rate because the cancer can become quite advanced before symptoms are visible. Additionally, symptoms can often initially be mistaken for other more common and less serious health matters. Developing an early cancer detector will help save lives.
A lack of facilities in New Zealand means disease sufferers are referred to gynaecological oncologists in Australia. The L’Oréal Paris support will go directly to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation for New Zealand women.
According to Group Marketing Manager Sally Giles, L’Oreal Paris’ support for ovarian cancer research is in the spirit of the brand’s signature phrase.
“Our by-line is ‘Because You’re Worth It’ which is highly appropriate to community activities that support and empower women,” Sally says. “It’s something we’re passionate about and our involvement in ovarian cancer research in New Zealand turns the words in to actions.”
L’Oréal Paris premieres its OCRF partnership in New Zealand during the 2011 L’Oreal Paris French Film Festival of which the brand is the major sponsor. The brand is hosting exclusive charity screenings in Auckland (25 Feb), Christchurch (3 March) and Wellington (18 Feb) of the romantic comedy L’āge de Raison (The Age of Reason).
Tickets to the charity screenings cost $25 and include a glass of French champagne on arrival and a L’Oréal Paris goodie bag valued at more than $300. All money raised from ticket sales goes to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation for New Zealand women. Be sure to get your tickets ASAP!
