Products we Love

NEUTROGENA Ultra Sheer Mist SPF70 141gbeautybible

very easy and convenient to use. Very cooling, but this is strictly for body, not face. This has got quite high alcohol which makes it cool and fast drying.

Woman of Beauty - Heather Vette

( 1 Vote )

Heather Vette of the SRA Beauty Academy, who designed the make-up looks for the Coco Streetwear and Coco Ready to Wear shows at this year’s Fashion Week, talks about being a woman of beauty and gives us the lowdown on summer beauty tips…

What is your daily beauty routine?
Â
Start the routine in the evening. Make sure to remove that makeup before you go to bed (along with exfoliating at least once a week). Get into the habit and you’ll reap the benefits.

Always use a gentle eye makeup remover to make sure you get ride of ALL that mascara.
Â
Cleanse, tone and moisturise each morning, as well before applying makeup, to ensure your foundation sits beautifully on your skin, as well as nourishing it. Find what works for your skin.
Â
What is the secret to ageing gracefully?
Â
Lead a healthy life. Make sure you drink plenty of water, stay out of the sun as much as possible – and wear sunscreen.
Â
Some foundations have an SPF factor which is great, as you can reapply the foundation during the day and still keep that protection happening. There are also some great sunscreens out there on the market that are specifically designed to be applied under makeup.
Â
Also, never forget to moisturise your neck and décolleté as these can be the first areas to show signs of ageing.

Top beauty tips
Â
- Extend the eyebrow (just a little at the outer ends) - this really helps to frame the face.
Â
-Blend, blend, blend! Everything – eye shadow, foundation and blush. Mix a little eye crème into the under eye concealer to stop the product from caking.
Â
- For sensitive skin - don’t have too hot a shower – sound odd? It helps, as the skin can dry out and appear blotchy and red.
Â
- Try mixing your foundation with a small amount of moisturiser – this also helps to give a more luminous finish.
Â
Â
Fave SRA product?
Â
Without a doubt our Velvet Veil – a beautiful primer that lets the foundation just glide on, followed closely by our new Loose Eye Dusts.
Â
How did you get involved in the industry?
Â
I have always had an interest in the fashion and beauty industry and after graduating from SRA I worked for a photographer specialising in portraiture.Â

At this time I also freelanced in mainly fashion shows and cultural events and since then have expanded my portfolio to include weddings and editorial work. I came to SRA in 2007 and trained to be a tutor.  I love my job and the opportunities it has provided me.
Â
What is a typical day for you?
Â
That’s a hard question! I try to balance work and play.
Â
What is your never-fail, quick three minute make-over routine?
Â
For me – a quick conceal, bronzer and if I had an extra minute left I’d add mascara and lip gloss.

Â
What is the biggest mistake people make with makeup?
Â
The wrong colour foundation and that unsightly line under the jaw (remember - blend, blend blend).

What are your summer makeup tips?
Â
A nude eye with a hot, bright lip is in this summer.  Our look for the Coco Pr Streetwear show incorporated this, with beautiful bright pinks and hot oranges. A hint here is to conceal and powder the lip to disguise the natural lip colour and ensure nice clean lines and hinder ‘bleeding’.
Â
A light coverage of foundation. This is where mixing the foundation with moisturiser is handy for that soft dewy finish.
Â
Hold back on the dark eye makeup and use a yellow-based bronzer.
